Islamic Characteristics and Code of Conduct

The behavior and conduct of teachers at the Al Furqan Academy must always be of a very high level. Teachers must be excellent role models for all students. This includes creating enthusiasm for learning and putting the progress, development and welfare of every student at the heart of their work. Teachers must share the schools values through words and actions with vigor. As the school is designated as having Islamic school, teachers must also be observant Muslims, following the beliefs and practices of Ahl-us-Sunnah Wal-Jamm'ah. It is also essential that teachers are committed to adhering to the staff code of conduct and professional standards for school teachers. Below are some guidelines that all teachers are expected to adhere to:

-
All teachers must be sound in their Islamic beliefs and ideologies according to Ahl-us-Sunnah Wal-Jamm'ah.
-
All teachers must be following one of the four Islamic Fiqhs (Islamic Jurisprudence)
-
All teacher's practices should be aligned with the the teachings of Islam.
-
All teacher's appearance and dress code should be in compliance with Islamic teachings.
This means that males will wear a full jubba and a amaama head covering and females will wear a full aabaya and niqab\hijab (head and face covering). Please be advised that the face covering is only in the presence of Non Mahram males otherwise the aabaya and hijab only is worn in the classroom settings.
-
If a meeting is required among the Academy's male and female staff, then the meeting will be conducted with full Islamic segregation. Any meeting will only commence when there is a minimum of two males and two females. Under no circumstances are individual meetings allowed between the male and female staff. Likewise, free mixing in any manner between both genders is completely unacceptable.<\/li>
-
If there is a concern with any matter related to the teacher, student or parents in respect to acting in accordance with Islamic Teachings then the issue needs to be assigned to the appropriate person ( Principal\/Supporting staff).

In summary, the main and most important point that teachers need to adhere to is Taqwa. This will then be passed down to the students. Taqwa means to abstain from every disobedience and to carry out every command of Allah SWT. Once Taqwa is established then the Islamic educational system and Islamic Tarbiya (upbringing) process also becomes sound and strong.
